The Degree Audit Process

The official audit is conducted by the Registrar’s Office, Graduation Audit Unit, and supersedes all other indications that the student has completed degree requirements. The degree audit is the final step before graduation.

First Step – You initiate the process by filing a graduation application and submitting it to the Registrar’s Office on or before the deadline. Two weeks after the deadline, the Graduation Audit Unit will mail a letter confirming receipt of your graduation application.

Second Step – The Graduation Audit Unit will prepare a degree evaluation or transcript for the Major/Minor with a graduation approval form attached for each student and forward it to department advisors for their review and approval. The Registrar’s Graduation Audit Unit is responsible for reviewing and certifying completion of the College’s general education requirements (See Degree Requirements). Your Major/Minor department is responsible for checking to make sure that you are about to complete or have completed your Major/Minor requirements and return the graduation approval form to the Graduation Audit Unit.

Third Step – After the College’s grading process is complete and grades have been posted on the students’ transcripts, we will conduct the final degree audit. We will post the graduation notation for students that have completed the College’s degree requirements. Students that are found ineligible to graduate will be notified by mail and instructed to re-file for a subsequent semester. If you do not receive a confirmation of graduation after ninety (90) days of the actual graduation date, write or call the Registrar’s Office, Degree Audit Unit 1-718-997-4400 for clarification.

Fourth Step - Approximately three months after graduation your diploma and complimentary transcript will be mailed to you. All financial obligations (stops on your record) must be cleared before we can release your transcript and diploma. Please make sure that we have an updated address to forward your diploma. If you wish us to hold your diploma for pick up, please direct your request in writing to the Degree Audit Unit.
