Neuroscience is an exciting and growing field in which biology, psychology, biochemistry, computer science, and other disciplines work together to
unravel the mysteries of the nervous system. Faculty members at Queens College are conducting research in all areas of neuroscience, from cellular
and molecular neuroscience through systems and behavioral neuroscience. Because of its rapid growth, neuroscience offers many career opportunities
to students who hope to work in universities, hospitals, foundations, research institutes, and pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies. The
neuroscience major is a particularly good option for students who plan to do graduate study in neuroscience or neuroscience-related fields or attend
medical school for neurology, neurosurgery, or psychiatry.
The neuroscience major is an application-only honors major for students with GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Students admitted to the major will conduct research
and complete an honors thesis by the end of their senior year. Applications will be processed once each semester and students will be notified of their
acceptance. Program requirements, criteria for admission, applications, and deadline information will soon be available at the neuroscience major Web
site.
