With human language as our primary unifying theme, our department offers programs in Linguistics and in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  We offer students the opportunity to explore the richness and diversity of the unique phenomenon of communication through language.  In the exploration of human speech and language, we hope to impart a deep appreciation and understanding of human nature.

Many of our faculty share appointments with the Ph.D. Programs in Linguistics and in Speech and Hearing Sciences of the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York.
